Living in Türkiye




With its unique geographical location, rich and deep history which made it the hub of many cultures and civilisations, Türkiye is a very appealing place indeed. Turkey offers fine living with its modern accommodation, high quality universities, shopping centres, hospitals and many other facilities. You won’t find any hardships that arise from living in a foreign land when you move to many cities in Türkiye.
If you want to make new friends and share some amazing experiences with them, you are in the right place. You won’t find it hard to make new friends in Türkiye because Turkish people are very warm and friendly. By joining one of the social activity clubs that your university is providing, you can get a definite jump start in your social life!
Research Opportunities

The National Libraries, State Libraries, University Libraries, Public Libraries and Specialist Libraries offer a rich and vast array of collections to students, professionals and researchers alike. They provide quality services to everyone of every age and profession.
Along with Turkey’s high standard universities that provide a superb education to its students you can attend seminars, symposiums, conferences and panels that re organised by various organisations and institutions. These are all facilities that any student can benefit from. 
Transportation

The majority of transportation is done on roadways. In the metropolitan cities there are many alternatives when getting around: metros, tramlines, ferries, suburban trains, buses, metrobuses, dolmuş (shared taxi) and taxis. In the last few years, interstate rail transportation has been in the forefront of transportation developments. With its level of comfort and affordability, you can opt to travel via rail.
Students get discounts on any of the above transportation methods, besides taxis, with their student discount cards and IDs. But obtaining one of these IDs has a different process in each city (council). Students are required to show their student IDs when they want to get a discount on transportation.
Media

There are 258 channels in Turkey, comprising of 27 national, 16 regional and 215 local television channels. Most of these channels can be accessed online. The daily programs of these channels can be found on newspapers and websites very easily.
Türkiye has a very rich and vibrant print media. There are many newspapers and magazines that keep the print media very wide and varied.
Many cities have their own local newspapers. The national newspapers usually have foreign language prints as well, that you could pick up from newspaper outlets.
You can access all of the newspapers via the internet very easily.
